Video Sharing Site Super Deluxe Launches Amid Much Laughter
Adaptive Path Helps Turner Deliver One-of-a-Kind Online Comedy Channel
Turner Broadcasting officially launched the Super Deluxe (www.superdeluxe.com) video website this week, the central component of their much-anticipated cross-platform venture strictly dedicated to comedy. With a sharp focus on the featured and amateur creators that contribute video to the site, the broadband channel is unlike anything else online. Video streaming is combined with intelligent social networking features to encourage community engagement around quality short form content, allowing Super Deluxe to serve as a premier comedy entertainment portal. Adaptive Path collaborated with Turner to help create an enjoyable and extensible web experience that offered users opportunities for entertainment and socializing.
"Everyone involved in the creation of Super Deluxe understood that success would mean crafting an experience that would keep people entertained," said Ryan Freitas, Senior Interaction Designer at Adaptive Path. "The project achieved this goal while simultaneously catering to the user’s expectations for a user friendly site that promotes discovery and socializing."
The project is unique in its scope and ambition. The website boasts a plethora of featured and contributed video content, all of it free—this includes original comedy sketches, shorts, and animated bits. Super Deluxe offers networking tools that engage visitors and encourage participation, from sharing opinions to submitting original material of their own. The site is part of a larger, cross-platform effort that includes partnerships that will make Super Deluxe videos available for embedding in other social networking sites, as well as viewable on mobile devices, cable video-on-demand, and other emerging platforms.
"Super Deluxe boasts a uniqueness matched only by its usability," said Freitas. "The final product is probably the most visually experimental site I’ve ever had a chance to contribute to; a sense of wit and whimsy permeates the experience, inviting users in and encouraging exploration."
