Soundflavor Launches New Application for the DJs in All of Us
Adaptive Path's New Ventures Program Helps Music Company Enhance The User Experience
Soundflavor, the San Francisco based digital music company, launched a revolutionary new application this week sure to delight music enthusiasts everywhere. Partnering with Adaptive Path through the company's New Ventures program, Soundflavor developed the Soundflavor DJ™ as a desktop application with the user's needs in mind, offering helpful new tools for developing and organizing song playlists.
Soundflavor DJ, a desktop application currently available for Windows XP users (a version for Mac users is planned), was specifically designed to accompany Apple's iTunes®. It acts as both a control for iTunes and, more importantly, allows users to "flavorize" their music inventories by matching songs to other similar tunes in their collections, including those long forgotten by the listener.
"Working on the Soundflavor DJ gave us a unique opportunity to build a compelling set of applications on top of an already impressive technology," said Lane Becker, Adaptive Path's Director of New Ventures. "We are very excited about the finished product; it offers an entirely new experience for the music listener—Soundflavor is a terrific new idea whose time has come."
In developing the Soundflavor DJ, Adaptive Path created a design intended to evoke other familiar music playing devices, from turntables to the Apple iPod. The final design is playful but highly functional. It introduces new concepts for a musical application while also reinforcing an inherent compatibility with iTunes.
"If you ever made a mix tape or CD, then the new Soundflavor DJ is for you," said Dan Saffer, Senior Interaction Designer at Adaptive Path. "Soundflavor has made it incredibly simple to find new songs, fashion better playlists, and create the experience one looks for as a music-lover; the functionality of these products is fantastic."
