Business Need: In July 2003, PeopleSoft acquired mid-tier enterprise software company JD Edwards. Perhaps the most important business move in PeopleSoft's history, this acquisition required quick action from the PeopleSoft.com team, which wanted to demonstrate the very real integration of the two companies. PeopleSoft brought in Adaptive Path to ensure a smooth process, and the integrity of the new Web site.
Process and Solution: Understanding the delicate issues surrounding mergers and acquisitions, Adaptive Path led an extensive discovery effort involving stakeholders throughout the organization. Through this knowledge of PeopleSoft's approach, we created a new site architecture that integrated content from JDEdwards.com into PeopleSoft's existing structure. Adaptive Path also designed wireframes for the new kinds of pages that this merger required.
Benefits: PeopleSoft received high-quality work even under tight, externally driven timelines. We served as an impartial third-party that could work through delicate acquisition issues and provide an external perspective on how customers would perceive product-marketing decisions. Because of PeopleSoft's familiarity with our approach and expertise, the team felt confident that our recommended solutions would work.
