Statement on Jesse James Garrett Receiving 2006 WIRED Rave Award. Adaptive Path Co-Founder Recognized as "Leading Innovator" Cited for Work with Ajax. (Statement can be attributed to Janice Fraser, CEO, Adaptive Path)
We are thrilled that our colleague and friend has been honored by Wired magazine with a 2006 WIRED Rave Award. It's fitting to recognize his innovative work in defining and naming Ajax, an approach he has long supported through his product design work, lectures, and musings online.
Jesse has made a career of capturing complex ideas in simple frameworks that are clear and accessible to management and non-technical audiences. Through his celebrated book The Elements of User Experience, his Nine Pillars competency map, and now Ajax, Jesse has consistently helped product teams to envision opportunities and realize their potential for breakthrough design.
Jesse is the Director of User Experience Strategy at Adaptive Path, and has long been recognized as a pioneer of information architecture. His work with Ajax received widespread acclaim in 2005, beginning with his influential essay on the subject. With a simple set of diagrams, a name, and a few brief descriptions, Jesse helped the Ajax approach become widely adopted within the field of Web application development. Jesse is proud to have helped bring this approach into the mainstream.
Since his start in the Internet industry in 1995, Jesse has had a hands-on role in almost every aspect of Web development, from interface design and programming to content development and high-level strategy. Today, information architects around the world depend on the tools and concepts he has developed, including the widely acclaimed "Elements of User Experience" model.
Jesse is co-founder of the Information Architecture Institute, the only professional organization dedicated to information architecture. He is a compelling speaker and an inspiring writer. You can read his column every month in BusinessWeek.com.
